Discontinuation of MiKTeX Portable SFX
Development of the MiKTeX Portable self-extracting archive will not be continued.
So far, the MiKTeX Portable Edition could be installed by executing the self-extracting archive miktex-portable-2.9.*.exe. This is no longer possible.
The portable setup logic has been transferred to the standard installer which has learned a new command line option: --portable. This option is implied if the file name of the installer begins with miktex-portable.
The new recommended method to install the MiKTeX Portable Edition:
- get the basic installer (
basic-miktex-2.9.*.exe) - rename it to
miktex-portable.exe - execute
miktex-portable.exe
